DHL Exel Supply Chain

DHL Exel Supply Chain, an iSupply Freight Management user since 1999, have committed to a licence upgrade, from 53 to 180 concurrent users. iSupply was initially deployed into a single warehouse in Sydney in 1999, today, in the ever growing DHL Exel Supply Chain group, it manages the despatch operations of 29 warehouses nationally.

Engineered to also manage 3PL operations, iSupply is now considered to be a "foundation application" that manages distribution for some 180 DHL Exel Supply Chain clients.

iSupply electronically interfaces with multiple Australian carriers including dedicated assets (DHL Exel Fleet) and provides rating of both cost and charge structures. Its ability to create supplier compliant bar codes and DHL Exel Supply Chains ability to manage milestones (KPIs) supplied by carriers, has significantly enhanced our customers overall visibility of their shipments.

DHL Exel Supply Chain also utilise iSupply's integrated Scan Pack module to manage eTrading on behalf of their retail clients. iSupply has an incoming interface from DHL-Exel's WMS -Exceed and Manhattan and an outgoing interface to the DHL-Exel Data Warehouse.

iSupply's strength lies in its connectivity both to and from a host system and was one of the major factors that influenced our decision to purchase the software package.

It allows us to gather many different formatted electronic orders from our major customers and integrate them into out host ERP software. It has eliminated the need to re-key these orders and as a result, is reducing errors that occur in this process not to mention the actual time to re-key orders.

It also takes the pick slip information from our host system and enables you to barcode scan as we pack our orders. Every items that is being sent to a customer is scanned and confirmed against the pick slip. iSupply notifies us of any incorrectly picked products or quantities and does not allow these items to be packed. This is a major benefit to us as stock losses die to incorrect picks are virtually eliminated.

On completion of the scan pack it automatically builds the freight consignment. Required details are taken from the pick confirmation and again the need to re-key information has been eliminated. iSupply consolidates consignments where able and this means that we can process orders on a first in first out bases. We don't have to manually put orders aside and process them all at the same time in order to get the benefit of freight consolidation.

Any pick corrections and freight details are able to be passed back to our host system to be processed and invoiced in real time. Again the need to manually move information has been eliminated and order timeliness and accuracy improved.

At the end of the day iSupply automatically builds the freight files and transmits them to the various carriers that we use. Proof of delivery information can also be retrieved from the carriers and is available within iSupply rather than having to spend unnecessary time chasing this information from the carriers over the phone when required.

iSupply is not just another logistics system. It has enabled us to reduce unnecessary rehandling of information. It has also enabled us to improve order accuracy and get the orders to our customers as quickly as possible.

It really is a case of what you don't see happening that is impressive about iSupply.

LSI have been more than accessible through all phases of the project. In fact, they developed most of our specialised requirements on-site and in close consultation with our staff.

As a result, they have provided a product that suits our individual requirements perfectly.

Support has been first class, always available and willing to assist with solving any problems as and when they arose.

Canon

At Canon we took a decision to purchase iSupply to manage our $7M+ per annum transport cost and equally as important, to manage the performance of our carriers. We had been offered carrier technology on many occasions but rejected all of these offers because we were concerned about:

  1. Data and System ownership, who else will have access to it?
  2. Integration issues not under our management
  3. Carriers systems written to reflect the individual carrier's business requirements rather than ours
  4. Our inability to measure carrier performance if using carrier's system

We trade electronically with TNT, our major carrier, and expect to enhance our system in the near future with inclusion of electronic proof-of-delivery. iSupply will then compare actual transit times against the contract and produce transit time analysis reports which we intend to link to the authorisation of carrier payments.

iSupply also manages day to day freight expenditure and has powerful "what if" calculation functionality to assess proposed contract changes.

We upgraded our iSupply system recently with the integrated implementation of the scan pack module which facilitates electronic trading with Coles Myer and David Jones.

Once again LSI has furnished us with an excellent technical solution in providing an integration to our WMS as well as our corporate host system that is both real time and seamless.

Calildad

Calidad has been using iSupply for approximately 3 years. Calidad is a distributor of Inkjet Cartridges and Refills and the cost of freight is a major expense for our company. A major benefit we have found with iSupply is that it allows us to 'freight shop' which means we can select the cheapest rate with different freight companies. Since it's introduction we have gained around 9% savings on our freight costs.

iSupply allows us to keep carriers at arms length to our business, making sure that we get the best deal, while keeping our carriers honest in delivery of service to cost. iSupply is also pivotal in automating the reconciliation of our transport invoices.

Over the last few years we have also had iSupply tailored to meet our specific requirements. This has always been done quickly and completely to our satisfaction. Our sales have been constantly increasing and the system has been able to grow with us. It has been able to handle our increased capacity and save us considerable labour costs.

More recently we introduced iSupply ScanPack in our warehouse. Scan packing our deliveries ensures absolute accuracy in packing of orders and satisfies integrity requirements of our major retail customers. iSupply sends an ASN (Advance Shipment Notice) to the customer who in turn sends payment and remittance advice electronically which in turn is imported into our accounting system to complete the order processing loop.

We highly recommend the products and services of LSI to any potential customers.

Sincerely,
Amanda Elboz
